the french are very attached to the family blood is definitely thicker than water. they take pride in their children, partly because for many years france suffered a decling birth-rate.there are still tax incentives available in france to encourge and reward having a large family .
the elderly are given respect, the young are given affection.there is an inter-dependence in french families, where grandparents ,aunts and uncles may well live very near the immediate family. all generations are included in family plans, holidays ,discussions, meals and celebrations.
Children are encourage to air their thoughts at a tender age, so that they are often good conversationlists by the time they are seven or eight years old. one of the delights of frerch life is the spectacle of an entire family of three of four genrestaurant ,or at a party .And one of the most severe sanctons which can be imposed in a child by a parent is to be banned from such a function.
one french family, whose son committed some mild breach of family etuqyetteme, ceremoniously removed hid place-setting t the table for dinner that evening, frightenigly reminiscent of poor Dreyfus being marched round the parade ground ,having the buttons torn from his uniform and his sword snapped in half. but the son complainngly did as he was told and ate alone in the kitchen. _________________ love nature ,like sport |
